Plan a custom vinyl gift without confusing production and delivery
Work backward from your gift date, separate production from shipping, check seasonal notices and prepare a complete order before checkout.
The date that matters for a gift is the day it needs to be in your hands. A production estimate answers a different question: how long making the record takes before it ships. Confusing the two is an easy way to leave too little time, particularly before Christmas or another busy season.
Build a timeline with three separate parts
Order preparation + production, including any active delay + delivery time = your planning window. Add room for uncertainty rather than treating the earliest possible date as a promise.
Your custom vinyl is made in 24 hours and ships within 48 hours. Shipping transit time is additional. Priority Processing, if purchased, moves your order to the front of the production queue.
Shipping follows production. Priority Processing concerns the production queue; express shipping concerns the journey after dispatch. Selecting one does not automatically include the other. Check the options and destination-specific information at checkout, along with the delivery page, before deciding.
Read the seasonal notice before counting backward
When a Shipping Delay Notice is active on our site, its extra time is added to normal production before the order ships. It is not the complete turnaround, and it is not the carrier's delivery estimate. The additional allowance can change with the season, so an old screenshot or a previous order is not a reliable guide for a new purchase.
For example, if the current notice says an additional ten days, do not interpret that as “my record arrives in ten days.” Start with the production estimate for your selected option, account for the active notice, then add shipping. This is an illustration of how to read a notice, not a statement that a particular delay is active today.
For a fixed event date, contact customer service before ordering if the timetable is close. Give the destination, required arrival date, record quantity and production option you are considering. Ask whether the current seasonal delay applies to that option. Do not assume Priority Processing cancels a posted delay or guarantees holiday delivery.
Decide what the gift should say before selecting songs
Choose one organizing idea: a shared trip, an anniversary, your own music, or a message recorded for the recipient. Then make a short list of the recordings and pictures that serve it. A focused selection is easier to finish than an open-ended hunt for every song you have ever shared.
Check that the recipient can play the record, too. If it is primarily a keepsake, say so in your card rather than assuming they own a turntable. For a listening gift, avoid choosing the format until you have checked your track durations against the 7-inch and 12-inch limits.
Prepare a complete order before checkout
- Audio: confirm the recordings, versions and sequence on each side. Listen to any personal message from beginning to end.
- Artwork: gather original-resolution photographs and check the names, dates and all four cover/label placements.
- Recipient details: verify the full delivery address and whether sending directly would reveal the surprise.
- Timing: reread the active production notice and shipping information on the day you order.
- Order details: check your email address so you can receive updates and find the order later.
Custom orders move into production after checkout. Review the current order terms before paying, and resolve an uncertain date, file or address first. Do not depend on changing the design afterward.
Have a thoughtful fallback for a close deadline
If the schedule is too tight, a card showing the artwork you designed can explain what is being made without promising an arrival day you cannot confirm. You can also share your own written track notes while the physical gift is in progress. That keeps the personal meaning without turning an estimate into a guarantee.
After ordering, use order tracking for updates. A confirmed order and a dispatched parcel are different milestones; wait for carrier tracking before planning around a delivery estimate.
